Wheat Grass House Plants

* Soak some not-canned wheat overnight. (for some reason canned wheat will not sprout)

* Fill a tuna can with damp potting soil.

* Sprinkle 1/2 Tablespoon of the wheat on top of the soil.

*Mist with water.

* Put a baggie over it (so you don't have to spray it every couple hours - drag.)

*If you really want to jump start it (you do!) place it in a warm sunny window with a piece of cardboard over the plastic the first day or so. The warm, moist darkness seems to really wake up those babies. Depending on temperature and how sweetly you sing to it, in about 10 days . . .

. . .you get this.

Now you can add a collar of paper or ribbon, even wrapping paper or a scarf/piece of fabric. I'm recuiting to make 45 of these for our Relief Society Birthday Party in March. Our theme is Provident Living - we're going to eat providently, learn about it and decorate with food storage and send everyone home with one of these beauties. I think they make a beautiful house plant - can you see a row of them in a window? Wow! I'm doin' it! Right now! Here I go....
