Miss Brown Eyes

Jeepers! Where did she get those Peepers?  With her Strawberries ‘N Cream complexion you’d think her eyes would be baby blue.  But no.

I’ll try to post a bunch more of these images from your photo shoot tomorrow.  Wow! They are so purdy.

Here are some more:

Miss to Mrs.

We had a Wedding Bee for Caitlin where we got envelopes stuffed and addressed, cases of water bottles personalized, pomanders of burlap and lace made . . and, best of all, conversation and companionship and celebrating the event of going from Miss to Mrs. coming up soon for her.  We missed her mother and sisters.  Wish Kentucky wasn’t so far away.

Mom couldn’t make it, but her glorious lavender and coreopsis did.  Thanks Mom.  They’re so perfect and pretty.

Weekend’s End

_MG_7489 pbl_thumb[2]

I am glad our Anna could still curl up on our couch and be sad with us for a moment.

Our weekend did, however, turn solemn and sober and sad when Anna got the call about a fallen friend and officer, Aaron Beesley. He had been on a rescue assignment with Luke, another close friend and Utah Highway Patrol helicopter pilot. (KSL news story here)

She shared an experience she and Luke had had with Officer Aaron – the kind of personal and endearing story that never makes it into the news article. She had gotten to fly in the helicopter with Luke as pilot, her beside and Aaron in back. Luke let Anna work the control, and as she was apologizing to Aaron about the bumps he said not to worry – that she was a better pilot than Luke and that it was a better ride than Disneyland.

The stranded hikers were rescued, but at a terrible cost.

Thank you to the men and women who are willing to work to fight our fires, and wars and disasters, and rescue those in peril so that we can better enjoy freedom and safety. And to their families who allow them to go out every day to do it. I am an eye witness to a few such families.  Our little girl, Anna, and her Officer Curtis are among them.

Our favorite Officer Kyle.  He is amazingly cheerful and capable, and very dear to our hearts!

Thank you Big Kyle and Luke and Matt P. and . . . on and on. You be careful out there and be sure to come home every day – that’s an order.

Wild Fire (the colt) Makes His Appearance

The jury is still out.  This little beauty made his appearance last Thursday night and we are still going back and forth between the names “Smoky” and “Wild Fire”.  (apply named considering the fiery conditions of our county right now)

The lucky duck, errr, chicken, who was the only witness of the horsey birth.  The privilege seems to be lost on her.

Playing hard to get extends to the animal kingdom too.

I wonder if Polly wonders how he ever fit those legs inside without puncturing something necessary.

Looks like he’s trying to learn to whistle or moo.

Come be charmed by this little guy before he grows into his legs and his flappy tail starts to swish.

One can always have fun puttering around the lawn, being tossed in the air and hollering your face off for no other reason than the joy of being a boy.

Did I mention Meg has taken up smoking?  Perhaps some early intervention . . .

Smoky skies.  Devastating fires require awe and attention, even at a relatively far distance.  Praying, fasting, hoping for relief and rain for our Sanpete neighbors to the north and fellow Westerners all over.
