B.R.I.D.E.

One of the games at Caitlins bridal shower was a bingo game with Bride letters.  For the spaces, you had to come up with things you thought were gifts most likely to be received.  As usual, I failed winning a prize.  I guess ‘American Flag’ and ‘Magazine Subscriptions’ are not as common as “Tea towels” or  “Cook Books”  Imagine that.

Purple makes Caitlin happy, especially when it comes in handy for setting up new housey homes – or homey houses.

Prizes included tea cups filled with just the right things to drink from one.  I love how Fluffy the fish presides in the background.

The rules to this game are obvious.

Some of the distinguished guests.

At this point of blogging I always wish I had been the obnoxious one insisting on a group picture because I want to remember everyone that was there.

I was a little late with the camera to capture the beautiful food before it was enjoyed.  Besides a vegie tray, there were cream puffs and an orange sherbet punch bowl and sandwiches . . .

Relatively Speaking

Look who came to our house and was a’swangin’ on our porch swing.

Keeth and Laurel!  They came a couple hours earlier than their Young Single Adult group for Pageant so we had them to ourselves for a little while.  Such a good time swapping stories and news and laughs.

Before I leave this earth-life I hope to again hear our twin cousins, Keeth and Kendall and little sister Kaylene sing “I Believe For Every Drop of Rain That Falls” in their close harmony and with sweet guitar.  I’ll never forget the Kennington Family Reunions when they would sing for us.  “I Believe” is my favorite.

This grand group was so concerned about the imprint they might leave on our house that we got the finest cleaning of bathrooms this ol’ house has EVER seen.  Bishop and Sister Coles – new and instant friends.  Come again – anytime.  The sooner the better.

Lil and Sil

Mark and Kyle have taken on a lamb for a 4-H project.  We’ve never done 4-H.  Now we’re doing it up to there because Jay and I are their leaders too.  Hope we can all learn fast.  We’ve already learned that “Baaa!” means  “I don’t like this.” or “I’m hungry.” or  “I’ve escaped and don’t know what to do!  I think I’ll run around all crazy-like.”

Mark and Sil wait for their turn to weigh in.  Don’t be fooled by this moment of calm sweetness – there’ a lot of work to do this summer to avoid a County Fair rodeo in the sheep barn.

Casen went with us and had fun exploring the possibilities of escape too.

Dappled shade and a quick visit with the other Olsens minus the frosty mug of root beer.  It was a Hot day.

If this is the beginning of the summer, what are the chances these britches are going to make it to the end?

Cloe is such a good dog.

The sheep adventure begins.

Shootin’ Straight

Yesterday was our Cub Scout Day camp.  It was a great day for boys. (This leader had a lot of fun too.)

Cowboy Dean and his Halfling horses.  Look at all that horsey jewelry.

Mark’s winging off a good one.  Look close to see his yellow-feathered arrow still in the picture.

Parent volunteers make it all that much more fun.  Thanks Orin.

Promising to “Shoot Straight”

IMG_6838 pblWhat a great day, great leaders, great cub scouts, great activities made for great sleepiness last night.  ZZZzzzzz

Anyone from Manti reading this post must know that Arla Otten has an especially special place in heaven because of her love and dedication to the Cub Scouting program.  Year after year she heads up amazing day camps, she certainly did it again this year.

Pioneer Heritage Gardens

Manti - Today is the dedication of these beautiful gardens – the result of the vision, and leadership talents, persistence and volunteerism of the Manti community and beyond, and some key individuals.  I got to be there to record some of the VIP’s that were there.  Here they are:

_MG_6345

Jane Braithwaite, whose name is synonymous with “Manti” and “Pageant” and “Culture”. She is visiting with The Honorable Greg Bell,  Lt. Governor of the State of Utah and his tie. Isn’t his a great tie for a politician?  Very patriotic.

_MG_6313

Shannon Miller, whose name is synonymous with “Beautiful Manti’s Main Street” and “Preservation” and “Restoration”.  She blows wind into the sails of everyone around her, using her resources she has and creating more new ones she needs.  And her mysterious photographer – with whom I did NOT get to hob-nob with at all.  I shall probably never know any wonderful photo tips from him.  But I like his tie too.

I’ll post more later today.  Gotta go now to the Snow College AC where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra on Temple Square will present a program in more honor of dedicating the Gardens.   Wow.
